This isn’t what Trevor Bauer imagined when he signed with the Dodgers.

He expected winning – lots of it – and the early returns aren’t favorable. The defending World Series champions weren’t supposed to be struggling so mightily.

“I’m pissed,” Bauer said on Sunday after the Dodgers lost to the Angels in which the right-hander allowed two runs over six innings.

“I freaking hate losing. That’s why I came here. We’re not playing up to our capability. I’m mad. I’m not going to speak for anybody else.

“You can say it’s early and there’s no need to panic, and it’s all true. At the end of the day, we’re not just going to roll out the bats and balls and win baseball games. We’re not going to sleepwalk our way to winning the division and winning the World Series again. That’s not how it works. You got to go out there and beat somebody every day. We haven’t been good at it and we need to get better.”

Bauer was not a part of last season’s Dodgers team that captured the franchise’s first World Series since 1988. Bauer signed a three-year, $102 million deal with the Dodgers in the offseason after flirting with the Mets throughout his free agency process.

The Dodgers started hot, winning 13 of their first 15 games, but have hit tough times. They have lost 15 of their last 20 games to fall to just one game over .500.

It’s hardly Bauer’s fault, though. He has a 2.50 ERA, although just a 3-2 record.
