ST. PETERSBURG — Yankees outfielder Curtis Granderson suffered a broken left fifth metacarpal — the pinkie knuckle of the hand — Friday night when he was hit by a pitch from Rays reliever Cesar Ramos, X-rays revealed.
Granderson remained in the game and scored a run but was replaced by Ichiro Suzuki in right field for the home half of the fifth inning.
Granderson made his season debut May 14 after missing the first six weeks of the season with a fractured right forearm suffered in his first spring training at-bat.
