News and notes before the first-place Mets take on the Braves in a day-night doubleheader at Shea Stadium: — This will be the Mets’ sixth doubleheader of the season. They have been swept once (by Atlanta) and split the other four.

Carlos Beltran has six homers, 19 RBIs and 18 runs scored in his past 15 games.

— The Mets are the only team in baseball with three 100-RBI hitters: Beltran, Carlos Delgado and David Wright.

— Delgado is hitting .304 with 24 homers and 69 RBIs since June 27. The 24 homers are tied for the most in baseball over that span.

— The Mets activated catcher Ramon Castro from the DL on Friday.

Jose Reyes is third in the majors with 184 hits. Boston’s Dustin Pedroia (197) and Seattle’s Ichiro Suzuki (192) are ahead of him.
