After a nice weekend away from the computer, we’ll try to get you updated on some of the happenings from the Mets and Yankees’ minor league systems over the weekend, beginning with the Baseball America Prospect Report in August 11. We’ll start with the hitters, all of whom today will be from the Mets’ system. In fact, the four players we’ll look at are two pairs of teammates in the Mets’ system – Mike Carp and Fernando Martinez in Double-A Binghamton, and Dock Doyle and Wilmer Flores in Rookie-level Kingsport.
Carp went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of walks for Binghamton, while Martinez was 1-for-4 with his 14th double and a walk. Meanwhile, Dock Doyle was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored for Kingsport, while Wilmer Flores went 1-for-with a run scored.
In contrast to the hitters, the only pitcher was from the Yankee system, Tampa’s Wilkins De La Rosa. He threw 5-1/3 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits, striking out four and walking three. He did, however, take the loss, his first with Tampa after spending the first part of the season with Low-A Charleston.
