The tarp is on the field at Busch Stadium. It’s not even an hour after the Mets’ 12-5 dismantling of the Cardinals in Game 4 of the NLCS and the grounds crew already has the field covered in anticipation of tomorrow’s rain.

According to weather.com, there is an 80 percent chance of rain, meaning there is a 20 percent chance Game 5 will be played tomorrow. The prospect of another day in St. Louis is not too thrilling for me, but it may be for the Mets.

If Game 5 gets moved to Tuesday, Tom Glavine will pitch on normal rest. So will Jeff Weaver, but this is probably a bigger benefit for Glavine’s 40-year-old left arm.

Tonight’s game was as ugly as expected. Oliver Perez put forth a solid effort, and the Mets’ bats came through to tie the series. The Cardinals bullpen was about due for a meltdown and it came in the marathon fifth inning.

Well, now it’s off to bed. I’m writing on no days’ rest tomorrow for the seventh day in a row.

Who do you think a rainout benefits more – the Cards or Mets? Also, any suggestions on what to do on a rainy day in St. Louis?
