Ramiro Pena, a middle infielder with the Yankees Double-A affiliate in Trenton, has been added to the World Team’s roster for Sunday’s Futures Game, part of the All-Star Festivities at Yankee Stadium. Pena, who will turn 23 July 18, replaces Diamondbacks 2B Emilio Bonifacio, who was called up to Arizona yesterday. Pena is hitting .274 with two homers and 37 RBI through 78 games this season. He hit .305 with a homer and 12 RBI in June. Pena joins fellow Yankee prospect Jesus Montero and Mets prospect Fernando Martinez (both of whom are their respective organization’s No. 1 prospects per the Beating the Bushes rankings) on the World Team roster.

The last five players from Trenton to appear in the Futures Game ought to ring a bell for Yankee fans: SPs Joba Chamberlain (’07), Phil Hughes (’06) and Chien-Ming Wang (’03), as well as 2B Robinson Cano (2004) and C Dioner Navarro (’03), who was in the building last night as the starting catcher for Tampa Bay.
