The Tampa Bay Rays aren’t done dealing.

Two days after trading Blake Snell to the San Diego Padres in an MLB blockbuster, the Rays are sending left-handed reliever Jose Alvarado to the Philadelphia Phillies in a three-team trade involving the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Phillies are sending left-hander Garrett Cleavinger to the Dodgers, who are dealing infielder Dillon Paulson and a player to be named later to the Rays.

Alvarado, the hard-throwing 25-year-old, gave up seven runs (six earned) with 13 strikeouts in nine innings during the shortened 2020 MLB season while dealing with a shoulder issue. He had a 4.80 ERA with 39 strikeouts in 30 innings in 2019, but in 2018 had a 2.39 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 64 innings. He is arbitration-eligible.

Cleavinger, 26, has just one career MLB appearance, which he made for the Phillies on Sept. 17. Paulson is a 23-year-old who hasn’t played above A-ball.

The Rays traded the 28-year-old Snell, a former Cy Young winner, for four Padres prospects, including right-hander Luis Patino. Tampa shed the final three years and $39 million left on Snell’s contract.
