The Red Sox continue to make additions to their bullpen.

They have signed former Yankees reliever Alfredo Aceves to a major league contract, according to a Boston.com report.

The report also states that the Mets were interested in the righty.

Aceves, who worked out for the Red Sox on Monday, was limited to 10 games last year due to a lower-back disk problem that surfaced in early May. There were more injury problems for Aceves this offseason. The reliever had surgery in late November to repair a fractured left clavicle suffered in a bicycle accident. He may not be ready for spring training and could start the season in Triple-A.

Aceves, 28 and a key member of the 2009 World Series team, has a 3.21 ERA in three seasons with the Yankees, who decided not to offer him a contract tender.

The Red Sox signed former White Sox closer Bobby Jenks and Dan Wheeler earlier in the offseason to set up Jonathan Papelbon.

The AP reports that Boston also signed lefty veteran Dennys Reyes to a minor league contract.
