Not only did the Red Sox sign Carl Crawford, they tried to ensure he would never end up with the Yankees.

The Chicago Tribune reported
there is a clause in Crawford’s contract that states: If traded, club acquiring Crawford may not subsequently trade him to Yankees.

It’s obviously early to even start talking about the possibility of Crawford not being in Boston before he’s even started the seven-year, $142 million contract he signed this offseason. But it is interesting to note the Red Sox would add the clause just in case they decide to trade the speedster at some point.
