In an interesting (but not surprising) twist to the whole Citi Field naming-rights fiasco, Newsday reports that a couple of out-of-state congressmen have written a letter to new Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner demanding that the government step in immediately and scrap beleaguered Citigroup’s sponsorship deal with the Mets. In light of this and Citigroup’s recent $50 million plane debacle, I’m thinking fans might not want to get too used to the whole “Citi Field” name.
