The Yankees have no plans to experiment with Joba Chamberlain this season, according to LoHud.com.

Chamberlain will be the Yankees fifth starter this season behind CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Chien Ming-Wang and Andy Pettitte. The Web site speculates that this will allow Joe Girardi to skip Chamberlain’s turn in the rotation when the schedule dictates, which will help keep Chamberlain’s innings down.

GM Brian Cashman said there were never any plans to pitch Chamberlain out of the bullpen.

“That is why bringing Andy (Pettitte) back was so important,” Cashman said.
