If the Mets make the right offer, they could have Cliff Lee “immediately,” according to a FOXSports.com report.

Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik told the website that he’s not ready “to throw in the towel just yet,” but two executives that inquired about Lee said Seattle would make the trade now if they got a good deal.

It’s believed that because Lee is a free agent next season the Mariners could get more in return by trading him sooner rather than later. And a quicker move would also save the Mariners money and remove the risk of Lee getting hurt and the team receiving nothing for the lefty.

One of the executives told FOXSports they expect Lee to be traded within seven to 10 days.

The Twins, Rangers and Dodgers also have interest in acquiring Lee.
