According to the L.A. Times, citing sources close to the situation, the Dodgers will promote Don Mattingly to hitting coach.

Mike Easler is currently the hitting coach, but with the Dodgers scuffling at the plate the move is expected to be in place when L.A. returns from the All-Star break.

Manager Joe Torre declined comment.
