Billy Wagner is expected to come off the disabled list in the next two days, and the Mets appear eager to deal their former All-Star closer.

ESPN is reporting that the Mets today placed Wagner on trade waivers that expire Friday.

If Wagner isn’t claimed by then, the Mets can trade him to any team. If Wagner is claimed, which is unlikely because the claiming team would owe him more than $2.5 million, then the Mets would have until Tuesday to complete a trade with that club.
