The Mets have signed lefty reliever Casey Fossum to a minor-league contract, according to a Buffalo News report. Fossum, who pitched with the Tigers last season, has struggled throughout his eight-year major league career that has also included stints with the Red Sox, Diamondbacks and Rays. Fossum has a career 5.47 ERA to go along with a 40-53 record.

Fossum, from Cherry Hill, N.J., will likely need an impressive performance in spring training to make the Mets roster as a lefty specialist.
