The Tigers have an interest in signing outfielder Johnny Damon, according to MLB.com.

Detroit was waiting to pursue Damon while it wrapped up a closer, which it did yesterday when it agreed to terms with Jose Valverde.

The Tigers and Damon’s agent, Scott Boras, already have had preliminary talks, according to the report by Jason Beck.
