BostonHerald.com reports the Yankees have contacted the agent for former Red Sox left fielder Jason Bay.

The report says Bay “expects to make a final decision in the next couple of days, with the Mets, Angels and Mariners the front-runners for his services. However, lurking in the weeds are Yankees, who have reached out to Bay’s representatives to express their interest, the source said.”

The Mets made an offer to Bay last week, believed to be for four years, $65 million. The Yankees are not believed to have made an offer.

The report says Bay does have a five-year offer on the table.
