Milwaukee-based reporter Ashley Sears was lauded by peers over the weekend, after receiving an unwanted kiss from a female bar patron while covering the Brewers’ playoff run.

In a video clip of the broadcast, which has since gone viral, Sears, who reports for Fox 6 News, hardly skips a beat, maintaining her cool as she received an unexpected peck on the cheek. Sears addressed the incident in her own words Saturday.

“Nothing good happens after 8 hours of drinking. Don’t be this person,” she wrote on Twitter.

Fellow reporters in the area were quick to applaud Sears’ remarks and composure.

“Yes, Fox6 is the ‘competition’ but that’s irrelevant. Ashley is my friend, works hard and she deserves respect. It’s disgusting that people (sober or wasted) think this is okay behavior,” tweeted Ben Hutchinson of WISN News.

“That was uncalled for. @AshleySears6 you handled that like a pro. I’m sorry that happened to you friend. I just don’t understand people sometimes,” wrote Sophia Beausoleil of NBC affiliate KPRC 2 in Houston.

“Absolutely uncalled for. Don’t care if it’s a light-hearted story like celebrating sports, reporters shouldn’t have to deal with people possibly kissing them during a live shot,” penned Jeff Wagner of CBS’ WCCO Minnesota.

It remains to be seen whether Sears has received or will receive an apology.
