‘Rivera Avenue’ is on deck
The City Council is expected to make history on Tuesday by going to bat for Mariano Rivera and voting to officially rename a street outside Yankee Stadium for him.
The proposal would name one block of River Avenue — near 161st Street — after the legendary Yankee relief pitcher, who retired at the end of last season.
There isn’t any known opposition to the bill, and it is expected to pass unanimously.
