Mariano Rivera’s 1,000th appearance with the Yankees did not come in a save situation.

The closer got the final three outs against the Blue Jays this afternoon with the Yankees leading 7-3. He became the first major-league pitcher to make 1,000 appearances all with one team.

Rivera is baseball’s all-time saves leader with 573. He now ranks 15th in games pitched.
