TAMPA — Yankees pitchers and catchers were scheduled to report to spring training Monday, but no one is too concerned that Mariano Rivera has yet to arrive.

“He called last night (and said) that he might be here this morning,” Yankees GM Brian Cashman said Tuesday of the closer. “His kids have been sick, it sounds like the flu. No biggie.”

Rivera is known for his slow starts in spring training and doesn’t pitch in a game right away.

“Even when he’s here, it’s a different program and it’s one that works,” Cashman said.

Rivera, 41, signed a two-year, $30 million contract with the Yankees this offseason.
