One day after seemingly defending his decision to toss a drink in the face of a White Sox fan, Amir Garrett is reversing course.
The Royals reliever issued an apology on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon, expressing a desire to make amends.
“I owe the fan from last nights incident an apology,” Garrett wrote. “I realize my actions were uncalled for and that as players we are held to a higher standard and the chirping from fans is apart of todays [sic] game. I hope he can forgive me.

Again, I sincerely apologize to last nights fan and all fans who were around. This is a beautiful game that we share, as fans and players. let’s continue to cherish our beautiful game together.”
Garrett’s admission of guilt comes on the heels of a far different Twitter tirade he posted. Shortly after video of his altercation went viral on Tuesday, the 30-year-old sounded off on the poor treatment of professional athletes at ballparks.
“Listen the disrespect is insane in these parks,” Garrett said. “I really wish I could go to someone’s work and run my mouth. These are grown men talking slick. How miserable do you have to be with your own life?”
Perhaps he can turn his season around as well after posting a 5.27 ERA and 24 walks over 27 1/3 innings in 35 appearances.
