Ruben Tejada’s Mets return lasted about a week.
The team announced Thursday it designated Tejada for assignment, eight days after it called him up and he played his first game as a Met since having his leg broken by Chase Utley during the 2015 NLDS.
The 29-year-old infielder went 0-for-9 in six appearances since getting brought up from Triple-A Syracuse, which included two starts.
Tejada was called up when the Mets placed Jeff McNeil on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring injury. McNeil took batting practice and fielded ground balls Wednesday and is eligible to return on Saturday.
RHP Chris Flexen was called up to take Tejada’s roster spot.
