CHICAGO —- Johan Santana had a short throwing session in the outfield before today’s game at Wrigley Field and later reported no problems with his strained pectoral muscle.

The Mets ace is expected to throw a light bullpen session today, after which manager Jerry Manuel and pitching coach Dan Warthen will decide if Santana should make his scheduled start on Tuesday in Washington.

Santana left Thursday’s start in Atlanta after only 65 pitches because of the soreness. The Mets say Santana’s shoulder is not an issue and the soreness is confined to his pectoral area.
