It turns out that Johan Santana‘s classic pitching performance last Saturday came despite torn meniscus in his left knee. Santana had the injury successfully repaired today and will be ready for the start of spring training, according to the Mets. With his meniscus torn, Santana pitched a complete-game shutout against the Marlins on just three days rest last weekend in one of the more memorable pitching displays in team history.
