The Mets and lefty Scott Schoeneweis are on the verge of a three-year deal worth a reported $10.8 million, sources confirmed. Schoeneweis earned $2.75 million last season working for Toronto and Cincinnati.

The 33-year-old southpaw was 4-2 with a 4.88 ERA and four saves in 71 appearances. Lefties hit .236 off the Long Branch, N.J., native.

Though the Mets are contemplating solutions in the starting rotation, it has been reported Schoeneweis will work out of the bullpen, adding another lefty to the mix. Closer Billy Wagner is a southpaw, and the club also utilized Pedro Feliciano in some middle relief and set-up at the end of the year.
