MLB free-agency season is here, which also means it’s Scott Boras season. The super-agent is known for spinning and that’s going to be his job with former Yankee James Paxton.
Boras told Jon Morosi of MLB Network that Paxton is “close” to throwing after undergoing back surgery in February and then dealing with a flexor strain that cut his 2020 season short.
“There’s a great deal of interest in him,” Boras said.
What kind of interest remains to be seen. Paxton was mostly a disappointment as a Yankee, making just five starts this past season.
His career has been defined by tantalizing potential, but also by a lack of consistency and injury problems. And now he’s 32 years old.
