MIAMI — The Mets announced today that Tom Seaver will throw out the first pitch at new Citi Field before Monday’s home opener against the Padres. Mike Piazza will catch Seaver’s throw as the Met legends come full circle after closing out Shea Stadium with a slow walk out the centerfield fence last September. The Mets also revealed that the cast of the Broadway revival West Side Story will perform the national anthem. Additionally, more than 200 veterans representing all five U.S. armed services will be on the field during the presentation of a football field-sized American flag. The anthem will conclude with a fly-over by four U.S. Marine jets.

The Empire State Building, meanwhile, will be lit orange and blue Monday night to commemorate Citi Field’s opening. The 7:10 p.m. game also will be broadcast live in Rockefeller Center and carried on ABC’s “SuperSign” in the heart of Times Square.
