While his bat and his right arm have made him a global icon, a completely different part of Shohei Ohtani dominated talk at Dodger Stadium on Thursday — his generosity.

The Los Angeles superstar gifted luxury watches to his team just ahead of its Opening Day matchup with the Diamondbacks, and the selfless gesture earned some high praise from many in Dodger blue, including the four-time MVP’s manager.

“I did receive a watch,” Dave Roberts told media members hours after Ohtani left the wristwear in his teammates’ and coaches’ lockers. “He is just very generous. He’s very thoughtful. And I think we’re all very grateful.”

While images of the specific timepiece have yet to emerge, pitcher Landon Knack shared on his Instagram page the pricey present came in a white, Seiko-branded bag with a sweet note.

“Happy Opening Day!!” Ohtani’s message read. “Three-Peat!!”

Roberts, too, dropped off some pregame treats for his team — bottles of whiskey for each player.

After getting the gifts, the Dodgers went out and put on a show in their season opener, blasting the Diamondbacks, 8-2, in front of a sold-out crowd.
