Major League Baseball woke up Sunday to a world without Jose Fernandez, which is as stunning as it is devastating.

The Marlins ace, one of the most joyous players you could watch, was one of three people killed in a boating accident early Sunday morning off Miami Beach, the team confirmed.

Fernandez, 24, was as electrifying a player as existed in the league, pitching with a smile and boyishness rarely seen. He was a player others gravitated toward, which could be seen as the news of his death rippled around the league.
