The Miami Marlins are set to hire Skip Schumaker as the team’s new manager, according to The Post’s John Heyman.

Schumaker, 42, played in the MLB from 2005-15 and was a part of the St. Louis Cardinals team that won the World Series in 2011. The former outfielder and second baseman played parts of eight seasons with the Cardinals before spending a year with the Los Angeles Dodgers and two seasons with the Cincinnati Reds.

Most recently, Schumaker was the Cardinals’ bench coach during the 2022 season. He joined his old club after spending four years as the San Diego Padres’ first-base coach.

Heyman previously reported that Schumaker was among four finalists for the Marlins job, along with Astros bench coach Joe Espada, Rays bench coach Matt Quatraro and Yankees third base coach Luis Rojas, who managed the Mets in 2020 and ’21.

The news comes roughly a month after the Miami Marlins announced that 2022 would be Don Mattingly’s last season at the helm.

The Marlins finished 69-93 in Mattingly’s final year. The former Yankees star had losing seasons in all but one of his seven years with the club after a five-year run with the Dodgers. He led the Marlins to a stunning playoff appearance during the COVID-shortened 2020 season, which earned him NL Manager of the Year honors.

Schumaker had a career .278/.337/.364 slash line as a player with 28 home runs, 284 RBIs, 169 doubles and 416 runs scored.
