SNY: Pedro to throw Sunday
According to the Mets’ TV network, Pedro Martinez is expected to throw a bullpen session in Port St. Lucie on Sunday. Martinez had been scheduled to pitch that session this week in Atlanta in front of Willie Randolph and pitching coach Rick Peterson but scrubbed it at the last minute when his terminally ill father, Pablo Jaime, had a seizure at home in the Dominican Republic.
The Mets have said that they hope to have Martinez back in their rotation by the start of a home series with the Dodgers next Thursday. Pedro has been sidelined since April 1 after straining his left hamstring four innings into his first start of the season.
