After failing to sign current UCLA fireballer Gerrit Cole with their first round selection last year, the Yankees this year have drafted his UCLA teammate, right-hander Gavin Brooks, in the ninth round of the draft. The 6-foot-3, 220 pound Brooks was the 52nd best prospect in California according to Baseball America.
