It is high, it is far, it is a multi-year contract.

WFAN announced Friday morning that John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman both agreed to multi-year deals to remain the radio voices of the Yankees.

This upcoming season will be Sterling’s 27th calling Yankees games and his 12th with Waldman. Sterling — and his famous home run calls — has become synonymous with the team, even if he is sometimes criticized for mistakes that seem to grow by the season.

“Yankees baseball on the radio provides a soundtrack for the summer, and it would be unimaginable to listen to the Bronx Bombers without these two iconic broadcasters,” CBS Radio New York senior VP and market manager Marc Rayfield said in a statement.

“This is a special year, particularly as John closes in on his 5000th consecutive broadcast, an ironman feat almost as remarkable as Cal Ripken, Jr and Lou Gehrig’s legendary streaks.”
