Right fielder Ryan Church (pictured) could return for Sunday’s finale of the Subway Series, Jerry Manuel said before Game 1 today. Church, on the DL since June 6 because of post-concussion syndrome, is scheduled to play in the field tonight for the Single-A Brooklyn Cyclones after appearing as the DH in his first rehab assignment Thursday.

Manuel said there is “an outside chance” Church could come off the DL in time for Sunday’s game. The Mets begin an eight-game trip to St. Louis and Philadelphia on Monday.

10:00 P.M. UPDATE: Church went 0-for-3 for the Cyclones tonight while playing seven innings in the field. The Mets said a decision on his status will be made Saturday.
