ANAHEIM, Calif. — Right fielder Nick Swisher is out of the Yankees lineup Friday against the Angels with an injured left elbow.

Swisher, who Thursday refused to divulge what was wrong but did say it wasn’t related to his hands, hasn’t been receiving treatment other than routine maintenance common at this time of the year for players.

At 1 o’clock this afternoon, GM Brian Cashman said he wasn’t aware of an injury to the outfielder who was in a 3-for-28 (.107) slide going the game at Angel Stadium.

Jesus Montero is the DH against Angels ace Jered Weaver. It is the rookie’s first start against a right-handed starter since being promoted from Triple-A.
