From JOEL SHERMAN

On Sunday night at the Tribeca Film Fesitval, I saw the premiere of “The Zen of Bobby V.”

It is an 86-minute documentary that uses the chronology of last season to detail what baseball means to Bobby Valentine and what Bobby Valentine means to Japanese baseball.

It was done, amazingly, by three early twentysomethings named Andrew Muscato, Andrew Jenks and Jonah Quickmire, who are still attending my alma mater, NYU.

They spent eight months in Japan accumulating 500 hours of film that takes you from the passionate fandom (Met fans can learn a lot from these guys about team devotion) to literally the top of Mount Fuji, which Valentine hikes on an off-day with, among others, one of my dearest friends, former American baseball writer and now Chiba Lotte Marines executive Larry Rocca.
