Mark Teixeira is back hitting cleanup Friday against the Mariners after missing two games with an inflamed left wrist.

The first baseman took batting practice and took grounders before the game after Joe Girardi said he wasn’t sure if he was healthy enough to return.

Russell Martin will also be behind the plate for CC Sabathia after Sabathia has pitched to Chris Stewart exclusively for most of the season.

“I felt it was time to do it,” Girardi said.

Girardi also put Curtis Granderson in the leadoff spot to avoid stacking lefties against righthander Kevin Millwood.
