PITTSBURGH — Matt Harvey might have just hit the wall with a case of “dead arm.”

That was manager Terry Collins’ assesment of the Mets ace, a day after he was torched by the Pirates in his worst career start.

“It looks like he might be going through some of that dead arm stuff that sometimes happens,” Collins said. “This might help him to get back on track. He is going to pitch Friday on five days’ rest, be ready to go.”

Harvey lasted only four innings and allowed seven runs against the Pirates in the shortest start of his career. The runs allowed were also a career high.

Harvey is scheduled to pitch Friday against the Marlins.
