Oh, those crafty Cubbies.
With the possibility of rain and cold weather in the forecast, the Cubs quickly moved to postpone Tuesday’s game against the Cardinals with an early afternoon announcement.
Tonight’s #Cubs vs. #Cardinals game has been postponed due to the forecast of rain and sub-freezing wind chills throughout the evening.

One problem: It didn’t rain and it wasn’t that cold.
Conspiracy theory!
What could the Cubs’ motivation possibly be for prematurely postponing a game in this much-hyped season? Well, as the Chicago Sun-Times points out, it’s one fewer game they have to play without stud prospect Kris Bryant and one fewer game they have to play in the mid-renovation Wrigley Field.
The Cubs sent Bryant to Triple-A after a dominant spring training for contractual reasons, causing a Scott Boras-Theo Epstein feud. If Bryant spends 12 days in the minors, the Cubs can postpone Bryant’s free agency by a year. They can call him up on April 17, and the Cardinals makeup game will come after that date.
Also, when the game is made up the work on Wrigley Field should be completed. The $545 million renovation led to bathroom closures during a 3-0 loss in the season opener. Fans who couldn’t stand the extreme lines were forced to urinate in cups.
“With 35,000 fans showing up in the ballpark tonight, we were simply not prepared to handle guests during peak periods. We have high standards for service and we missed the mark tonight,” the team said in a statement.
They may have found an interesting solution, at least for one night.
