The Met case for Sabathia

In a column in today’s Post, I recommended that the Mets should strongly pursue CC Sabathia and not concede an inch — or a dollar — to the Yankees or any competitor in the free-agent chase. The combination of Johan Santana and Sabathia would be special. Now putting dynamic duos together does not assure championships. The Diamondbacks united Brandon Webb and Dan Haren and didn’t even make the playoffs. But the value of having two horses at the top of a rotation has a trickle down effect on a whole team:
