ATLANTA — Sunday’s rainout was good news for a Mets bullpen that has received plenty of recent work, but the price will be paid later.

The postponement means the Mets and Braves will play a split doubleheader at SunTrust Park on Memorial Day, during a stretch in which manager Mickey Callaway’s crew will go 17 days without a break.

The Mets rotation will now set up with Zack Wheeler, Steven Matz and Noah Syndergaard facing the Cardinals beginning Tuesday, before Jacob deGrom pitches the opener of a weekend series in San Diego.

Jason Vargas would make his season debut Saturday in San Diego.

The lefty Vargas is scheduled to throw about 75 pitches Monday in a rehab start for Triple-A Las Vegas, his final hurdle before rejoining the club. Vargas has been sidelined since near the end of spring training, after a line drive broke the hamate bone in his non-pitching hand. Vargas underwent subsequent surgery, but maintained a throwing schedule to keep his arm strong.

Matt Harvey will be available to pitch from the bullpen as early as Tuesday, according to Callaway. The right-hander lost his spot in the starting rotation after allowing six earned runs in a loss to the Braves on Thursday.

Todd Frazier had been absent from Callaway’s starting lineup after getting his toe spiked the previous night at third base. Frazier expects to play Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Jacob deGrom, who received a no-decision following seven shutout innings on Saturday, has not sustained a loss on the road against an NL East opponent in his last 10 starts. It ties a franchise mark set by Ron Darling in 1987.

The Mets have not allowed an opposing pitcher to reach base safely in 41 plate appearances to begin the season.
