If you are in a fantasy league, you should go ahead and draft Carl Pavano and Jake Peavy as Yankees. With the emphasis on FANTASY. The Yanks have as good a chance of re-signing Jaret Wright as they do of bringing back Pavano or obtaining Peavy. Pavano’s agent is doing the right thing at the GM Meetings by trying to drum up business for his damaged-goods clients. But the Yanks have been there and done that. The Pavano camp is trying to get guaranteed money and a roster spot, and the Yanks already have spent $40 million to learn that Pavano does not stay on the roster very long. He is a symbol of wasted money, and the Yanks do not exactly want to be tied again to that symbol now that he is no longer their property. They are going for high-end starting on the market this offseason.
