This may have been one of the craziest trade deadlines in memory.
It was highlighted by a monumental trade that sent one of MLB’s biggest stars in Juan Soto to the Padres, who also received Josh Bell in the deal. That was one of many deals that had the baseball world on fire into the early evening Tuesday.
Sadly, the night ended with the news of the passing of the most iconic baseball broadcaster to ever live, Vin Scully. Nobody called games, told stories, and captured the listener better than Scully, who passed Tuesday at the age of 94.

- JUAN SOTO TRADE: The Padres are all-in on a title run.
- TRADE DEADLINE WINNERS: Astros go out and get Christian Vazquez to improve their catching situation. Trey Mancini gives them another strong bat and great guy in the clubhouse. Phillies improved their pitching and their defense.
- TRADE DEADLINE LOSERS: Red Sox didn’t really do enough to get into playoff picture and they didn’t get prospects for future. Cubs ended up keeping Willson Contreras and Ian Happ.
- YANKEES TRADES: Did not understand trading Jordan Montgomery for Harrison Bader.
- METS TRADES/JACOB DEGROM: Didn’t like what they did. They probably should have got more of an impact bat. deGrom made his return Tuesday and looked good. His return is crucial for the Mets in October.
