As if Gerrit Cole needs more money.
If the ace were to opt out of his record-setting nine-year, $324 million deal after the fifth season, the Yankees could then void the move and keep Cole in pinstripes by adding one more year to the contract at $36 million, The Post’s George King confirmed.
That would bring the deal to 10 years, $360 million. For now, the Yankees are just hoping Cole, introduced to the media Wednesday, breaks their 11-year title drought.
