Baseball America has released its annual top 100 prospects list, and the results are neither phenomenal nor terrible for the Yankees and Mets.

Both organizations have three prospects apiece on the list:

10. Anthony Volpe, SS, Yankees

Volpe is a 20-year-old whom manager Aaron Boone referred to in December as a “special guy.” In 2021, playing about half the season in low-A Tampa and half in high-A Hudson Valley, Volpe batted .294 with 27 home runs and a 1.027 OPS. He has been tabbed as the Yankees’ best prospect.

13. Francisco Alvarez, C, Mets

The 20-year-old catcher went viral for a bat flip after he hit a walk-off homer for the high-A Brooklyn Cyclones last July, but later expressed disappointment that he had potentially disrespected the game.

39. Brett Baty, 3B, Mets

The 22-year-old was called up to Double-A Binghamton in July. “Everyone has always said once you get to Double-A, you’re one phone call away from the big leagues. So I know that’s really close,” he said at the time. “I’m just looking forward to getting up there and starting with those guys.”

55. Oswald Peraza, SS, Yankees

Though he ranked lower than Volpe, the 21-year-old might be able to contribute to the Yankees sooner. He finished last season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and hit 18 home runs across three levels of the minors last season.
