You’re out!

That’s what the Mexican Baseball League told two of its umpires by suspending them for the rest of the season after they combined for one the most egregious blown calls you will ever see.

In the top of the first inning of a July 17 game between Mexico and Laguna, umpires Ulises Dominguez Solis and Rodolfo Pastrana Tejeda both called a ball after the batter clearly swung at the second pitch.

After a strike was not initially called, the catcher halted his attempt to throw the ball back to the pitcher and asked the home-plate umpire to appeal to first base. The first-base ump signaled safe, prompting Mexico’s manager and pitcher to argue the call. The manager signaled to the home-plate umpire that the batter swung. The pitch itself, even without a swing could easily have been called a strike.

The two other umpires on the crew were warned by the league for not overruling the call.
