The emotional surprise of the season for one young Chicago Cubs fan is getting even sweeter thanks to the kindness of the players on the World Series champs.
Nine-year-old Kolt Kyler, of Pierceton, Ind., is seen in a tear-duct-testing video breaking down with joy as he opens an envelope containing two Cubs tickets. Kolt’s father, Andy, tells him they have a full-day task ahead of them. Kolt agrees without hesitation. But the chore is no chore at all, it’s a trip to Wrigley Field this summer to see his beloved Cubs play the St. Louis Cardinals.
Kolt’s older half-sister, Hannah Himes, who first posted the video to social media, provided the background for the big reveal, a reward for Kolt’s diligent work in the classroom and helping on the family farm.
“He had a doubleheader that morning/afternoon, he mowed our grandma’s yard and then came home for chores and that’s when he got his surprise,” told ABC News. “I think more people in the world should take note of Kolt’s work ethic, attitude, and thankfulness.”
The video soon caught the attention of the Cubs, including one of Kolt’s favorite players, Anthony Rizzo, who promised on-field passes for the adorable fan.
This is awesome. When u come for the game Kolt I'll have BP passes waiting for you. No better place to see the @Cubs then right on the field https://t.co/P7Ma2p4MUh
