If only every baseball game had an “I love you.”

The Little League World Series — and its ubiquitous ESPN microphones — treated sports fans to a mid-inning, heartstring-pulling father-son pep talk on Monday.

Isaiah Jensen, in the midst of pitching a shutout for Bend, Ore., during a consolation game against Emilia, Italy, issued a leadoff walk in the fifth inning and got a visit from his father, Joel, the manager of the team.

That’s when it got good.

“Hey, I just came out to tell you how much I love you, as a dad and a player,” Joel Jensen said. “You’re doing awesome out here. … This is your last hitter. Come right after him. Hey, cheer up, have some fun, come right after him. Let’s go.”

Isaiah finished with just two hits and no earned runs allowed in his 4 1/3 innings as Oregon went on to a 6-2 victory.
