DENVER — As expected, the Mets called up Double-A Binghamton catcher Josh Thole today.

Thole, who will wear jersey No. 30, was a 13th round pick by the Mets in 2005 and was hitting .348 — third in the Eastern League — at the time of his promotion.

Looking to cut costs, the Mets are likely to make just one or two more September promotions and none until after the minor-league season ends next week.
